Plastic, metal, or bamboo: which one?
It depends on who receives it and how many you need.
- Plastic: for volume. Trade shows, conventions, training sessions, banks, and insurers, where people sign a lot. Cost per use is among the lowest of any promotional item.
- Metal: for clients, executives, and sales teams. Weight signals quality; pens that are too light feel disposable.
- Wood or bamboo: for brands that talk about sustainability. They reinforce that message without a word, and laser engraving looks clean on the grain.
A combination that works at events: a plastic model that writes well for the public, and a metal model or boxed set for key contacts.
Which marking lasts longest on a pen?
Laser engraving on metal, wood, or bamboo. The logo is marked into the material and does not rub off. On plastic, UV printing gives crisp colors, even in full color.
On executive pens, less is more: a small, understated engraved logo says more than the company name repeated along the barrel. To see how we pick the technique for each material, read about our branding process.
How many pens should you order, and how far ahead?
Pens with simple branding take 2 to 4 days from artwork approval, depending on the model. If they go into a multi-piece kit or special packaging, count on 10 to 18 business days, and for events with more than 100 pieces plan at least 15 business days.
On quantity: pens with simple branding are made from a few units, depending on the product. We confirm it in the quote. For a trade show, estimate from expected foot traffic and keep a few units of a better model for the contacts you really care about.
Watch July, November, and December: they are our busiest months because of Father's Day and year-end. In those weeks, confirm artwork and quantity early.
What we check before producing your pens
A mistake we see often is buying the lowest-priced model without testing the writing. A pen that skips or dries out has the opposite effect: it annoys the user every time, and it carries your logo. So, when the order calls for it, we let you try the model before the full run: write a real paragraph and check that the ink flows evenly and does not smudge.
Then we review three things a photo does not show: the weight in your hand, whether it takes ink refills (it lasts longer and feels like a serious object), and how the logo looks on the mockup. The quote arrives within 24–48 hours with itemized pricing: pen, branding, packaging, and delivery.
A metal or wooden pen in a gift box changes category: it goes from promotional item to gift. For clients or recognition, the box is worth it. To pair it, our guide to custom notebooks in Santo Domingo shows notebook-and-pen combinations.
If you are still deciding which item suits you, see which promotional items people actually use. If you are comparing suppliers, our guide to choosing a promotional products supplier sums up what to ask for.
How do I order my pens?
Tell us the model or type, the quantity, and the date. If you are not sure which, we will suggest two or three. Our page on promotional products in the Dominican Republic shows everything else we make.
